Role Overview
We are seeking a commercially oriented Customer Success Manager who possesses a unique blend of business acumen and scientific curiosity. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a proven track record of building strong client relationships in a technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Become the main point of contact for a growing portfolio of materials science customers, building and maintaining strong relationships.
Take ownership of customer processes, including expectations alignment and onboarding, to ensure a smooth and successful start with our platform.
Proactively engage with existing and prospective customers to understand their needs, goals, and challenges.
Help drive customer adoption and utilization of our platform, providing guidance where needed, and help customers with best practices.
Identify opportunities for account expansion and collaborate across the commercial team to secure renewals, satisfaction and upsells.
Understand customer feedback and friction points, and relay it to product and engineering teams to inform the product roadmap.
Monitor customer health and usage data to identify at-risk customers and implement proactive retention strategies.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Experience: 3+ years in a Customer Success, Account Management or similar role. You must have experience working with large enterprise level clients particularly in technical or scientific industries (e.g., advanced materials, manufacturing, energy, chemicals)
Technical acumen: This is a crucial requirement. You must have a solid understanding of the scientific or engineering principles behind the materials science. Experience or education in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) is highly preferred.
Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and compelling way to both scientists and business leaders.
Problem solving: A proactive and resourceful problem-solver who can handle customer issues efficiently and effectively, ideally cross-functionally between technical and commercial disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a B2B SaaS company, especially within a startup or fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with CRM and Customer Success platforms.
