Role Overview
PhaseTree is now at an important juncture where the technology is starting to prove highly valuable to a number of our initial customers, and we are thus starting to ramp up our commercial efforts. To support this development, we are hoping to bring onboard exceptional zero-to-one people to build and own various aspects of our commercial strategy - including customer relationships.
We are therefore seeking a commercially oriented Customer Success Manager to join our rapidly growing team. You will get the opportunity to build our customer relationship processes from the ground up, being the commercial point of contact for our valued customers, as we help them push their scientific boundaries with our team and our software. Your role will be critical in building strong, long-term relationships, driving user adoption, and identifying opportunities for growth and expansion within our customer base.
Key Responsibilities
Become the main point of contact for a growing portfolio of materials science customers, building and maintaining strong relationships.
Take ownership of customer processes, including expectations alignment and onboarding, to ensure a smooth and successful start with our platform.
Proactively engage with existing and prospective customers to understand their needs, goals, and challenges.
Help drive customer adoption and utilization of our platform, providing guidance where needed, and help customers with best practices.
Identify opportunities for account expansion and collaborate across the commercial team to secure renewals, satisfaction and upsells.
Understand customer feedback and friction points, and relay it to product and engineering teams to inform the product roadmap.
Monitor customer health and usage data to identify at-risk customers and implement proactive retention strategies.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Commercial Grounding: A commercially-oriented individual with a prior experience in building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Technical Aptitude: A great understanding of scientific and research processes, and ideally how these translate into an industrial setting.
Domain Knowledge: Previous experience in a sales or customer-facing role with solutions related to Materials Science or Materials Informatics is a significant advantage.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and compelling way.
Problem Solving: A proactive and resourceful problem-solver who can handle customer issues efficiently and effectively, ideally cross-functionally between technical and commercial disciplines.
By nature, a bias towards proactive learning and a deep interest in understanding how different things interact. Highly driven to actively seek out and absorb new information.
