Role Overview


We are seeking a Scientific Writer to play a crucial role in securing funding and disseminating our scientific advancements. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on translating complex scientific information into compelling narratives, identifying strategic funding opportunities, and driving impactful scientific communication. You will work closely with scientists, project mangers and finance teams to secure "soft money" funding and elevate our scientific presence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify Soft Funding Opportunities: Proactively research and identify relevant grant and "soft money" funding opportunities from national, European, and international programs, foundations, and industry partnerships that align with our research and development goals.

  • Lead Grant Application Processes: Prepare and submit compelling grant applications, coordinating with internal teams (scientists, project managers, finance) to gather information, develop project proposals, write persuasive narratives, and ensure all submission requirements are met. You will drive the application from conception to submission, with support from the wider team.

  • Contribute to Scientific Communication: Support the team in copywriting and editing scientific publications, including research papers, reports, and white papers, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to publication standards.

  • Drive Technical Content on LinkedIn: Spearhead the creation and dissemination of engaging technical content for our LinkedIn page, translating complex scientific information into accessible and impactful posts that highlight our innovations and achievements.

  • Ad-hoc Communication and Project Support: Provide flexible support for various communication initiatives and project management tasks as needed, contributing to the overall success and operational efficiency of the team.


Qualifications


Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in grant writing and securing "soft money" funding from various sources (national, European, international programs, foundations, industry).

  • Exceptional scientific writing, copywriting, and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and persuasive language.

  • Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to lead complex application processes and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

  • Familiarity with scientific publication standards and a keen eye for detail in reviewing research papers, reports, and white papers.

  • Experience in creating engaging technical content for professional platforms, particularly LinkedIn.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to support various communication and project tasks.


Preferred Skills:

  • Background in a scientific discipline or significant experience working closely with scientific research and development teams.

  • Previous experience within materials discovery is an advantage

  • Knowledge of various funding landscapes and application requirements (e.g., EU Horizon Europe, national research councils).

  • Experience in a fast-paced research or biotech environment.

  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
